How fantastic it is to find a new author whose storytelling ability intrigues and enchants from the first page. The Marechal Chronicles is just as sexy as promised, full of magic and fantastical creatures. The plot, brimming with action and adventure, moves swiftly. The dialogue is solid and the descriptions are beautifully drawn.
I found Aames’ main character, Melisse, well crafted, and I immediately bonded with her desire for freedom outside her life of servitude. It is evident Melisse longs for a better life, exacerbated by her cruel treatment by Lord Perene, his son, and his daughter. When she’s humiliated by Perene’s son in front of an important manor visitor, Melisse flees into the woods, only to encounter a magical being who will change her life forever.

When Lord Perene’s son is found stabbed to death, the family points to Melisse as the murderess and demands that the Marechal de Barristide investigate the crime. Barristide, buoyed by his own interest in Melisse, discovers much more than he bargains for while tracking down the alluring young woman. Aimelie Aames also does a wonderful job with Barristide’s character, creating a hero who is, despite his scar and tragic past, commanding, charismatic, and sexually irresistible.

It’s been 15 years since I’ve read my last erotic book. I remember summer afternoons reading mind-stimulating erotic books – just like The Marechal Chronicles is. A warm wind was stroking my bare feet and my imagination went wild. Today happened the same, the only difference is the winter instead of the summer outside...

Aimélie Aames’ book has a dynamic storyline, filled with carefully crafted details. It’s amazingly interesting and original story. Especially the erotic scenes are greatly developed. Her work introduces a variety of really interesting characters. It’s intense and exciting. Sexy, at times, but not at the expense of a good sword and sorcery storyline.

I love the fact that the story is detailed so I can emerge into it easily. And I love to emerge into stories. It doesn’t matter if it’s a movie or a book. Also appreciate that the book is not too long. It was just right for the rainy morning.

Overall, a fun and satisfying read. I’m already excited to read the next installment in the story.

The erotic is the stuff of life, but it doesn't always mesh so fluidly with other genres. I'm happy to say that this is NOT the case here. Aimelie Aames takes us into an imaginative world so magic, so captivating, that it's easy to forget you're reading an erotic tale until the sex rears up and smothers you in its sultry wonder.

These books center mainly around the enchanted servant girl Melisse, a nobleman's household, and the Marshall (or Marechal, as he's known in Aames' very authentic European setting). The falsely accused Melisse finds herself yearning for a very different life, a longing fulfilled after an erotic encounter with an extra dimensional being. She walks away with fiery powers, beginning a rich descent into Ms. Aames' deliciously complex and highly symbolic atmosphere.

What would any good fantasy be without magic and monsters? The Marechal Chronicles hit the high note because they abound in fascinating otherworldly beings. Whether they're chasing down our hero and heroine or seducing them into the bedroom, the sheer variety of wicked creatures gives writers like GRR Martin and HP Lovecraft a run for their money.

While some will be awestruck at the sex and the scenery, I'm personally just as impressed by the keen balance in this series. Aames' prose is fluid and exciting. She manages to keep things sensible, sexy, and sometimes frightening in equal proportions, delivering erotic outbursts in all their glory without sacrificing overall story flow.

If you like your erotic fantasy hot, heady, and a little dark, you'll devour these books and beg for more!
I am not a fan of this genre that must be stated first, I am a huge fan of fantasy, especially epic fantasy. I love Sanderson, Salvatore etc...

So why do I give this 4 stars, Aimelie Aames is part of A new breed of author who are making reading exciting again

Her characters have a true depth, motivations and are multi dimensional.

Her world is new, well thought out and intriguing.

All this and her story telling ability really made this a fast read I went from wouldn't have picked it up to a great fan. I am happy suggested it to me when I was reading A Song of Ice and Fire. Sorry George, I love your books but her world is more interesting.
Like other reviewers mentioned, I didn't know for sure what I was getting into with this. And yes, it's got a lot of steamy parts which made me doubt what I was reading.

But the more I read, the more I got caught up in it. The story gets bigger the further along and the sexy parts take a back seat to a really interesting fantasy with some very strange monsters, sword fights, etc, plus a thread of intrigue that carried me right along.

Definitely going to grab the rest of the series. I can see this really taking on an epic fantasy aspect as the author develops these characters and this very unique fantasy setting.

I agree with the other reviewers. I recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a great fantasy with all the parts of what makes it feel almost real, even if that means there is sensuality and violence mixed up with magic.
