4 1/2 Stars! Lately I've been really enjoying serialised novels, but this one seems to have real potential as a dystopian NA novella series with some serious kick! The beginning is so dark and depressing and the setting is bland and at the same time utterly vile that I could see, hear, taste and definitely feel the dystopian creepiness oozing on everything. This novella has all the ingredients that dystopian fans crave: a fierce heroine from a mysterious, infamous family, the bad boy love interest with a secret past, dystopian themes of control (and forced lobotomies) and a rebellious band of misfits that are struggling against a corrupt government.I love the fact that the author, Lila Felix, alternates the POV's between Petra and Law (love the names) and the romantic attraction between them is real, straight forward and without any pretense. The supporting characters thus far are shaping up to be complicated, likeable and at times comical. Felix does an excellent job of writing in a way that the settings are tangible and the words spark an abundance of sensory reactions. I'm going to rush right into the next novella for sure. I guess my general feeling about Phase 1...it's just a plain cool read.

Forced Autonomy edition by Lila Felix Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I was fortunate to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I can’t tell you just how much I enjoyed it. This is like nothing I’ve read before. Not a fan of dystopian novels, or at least I didn’t think I was until I read this one. The story feels so real and the writing flows, keeping you interested until the end. With each line, you’ll get pulled deeper and deeper and before you know it, you’ll start wondering what it would be like if this were to actually happen in real life. Would you be able to survive? Would you be as strong as Petra? Really awesome story and personally , I can’t wait to read more of Petra and Law and see their relationship grow.
This is book 1 in the serial Forced Autonomy an it's pretty good. The world has been flipped on its head and now is a place that is unrecognizable. We meet Petra as she gets a second chance at life. Things are not always what they seem in this world though. Petra meets someone from her past and at first I was excited...I'm not sure what's going on now. Law is great! There's something about Petra that Law craves like never before. The writing in Forced Autonomy is pretty decent. I did find some typos but nothing so bad that it takes you from the book. There is a pretty darn huge cliffhanger at the end though! Good thing that I already have the next books! 3.5 STARS
* Deep breath* People, you are in for a ride! For those of you who have been following the Forced Autonomy journey, you will not be disappointed. There are so many twists and turns. Just when you think things have calmed down, you are thrown into something that will have you gasping and shocked and begging for more. I loved every minute, even the sinister ones. ☺ Petra and Law continue to fight against this new crew and you feel like you are right alongside them. Even though this can be really intense at times, you will find yourself doubled over in laughter. For me, Shep keeps getting better and better. He is such a breath of fresh air. I can’t say much without giving things away. Just find a quiet spot, where you won’t be disturbed, and buckle up. GO! Get your copy of Phase 4!
If you are a fan of Lila Felix and you love the dystopian genre, you are in for an awesome treat! I have recently become a huge fan of novellas and when I heard about this one I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. You won't be disappointed with Forced Autonomy. I was hooked from the first line, literally. She has a way with descriptions that puts you right there in the middle of it all. I was tense, worried, giggling AND swooning. Petra is a force to be reckoned with. A survivor. She has been on her own for quite some time when Lawson walks into her life. I absolutely adore the two of them. I say that a lot about Lila's characters! They have such a strong connection. I am a huge sucker for a sweet romance and this definitely got that started! They are about to embark on a wild ride and you do not want to miss it. My only complaint is that it ended so soon! I wanted more right then. ;) No, in all honesty, it is a great setup to all that she has planned for Petra and Lawson. I can't wait for the next one! This is definitely a 5 star must read!
Forced Autonomy was the first story I’ve read by Lila Felix. I actually heard about this from multiple bloggers, and well, since I love dystopians, I decided to check it out.
I definitely enjoyed Forced Autonomy.
It was a quick read that I would’ve gotten through much, much faster had I not been sick. It’s easily something a reader can devour over an hour or two (at most).
So, what’s it about?
Since this is a novella and it’s only around fifty-pages long, I’ll try to keep this short.
Forced Autonomy is a dystopian story that takes place in the fallen United States. The prologue helps to provide a good understanding as to what to expect from this world. It’s dark and miserable, and we get to see that first hand as early as chapter one. Petra has had a rough life – well, everyone in this world has really, but you’ll understand why she’s had it hard when you start reading. I liked her. She’s human. She isn’t Miss Perfect, which was a nice change.
There is a romance in this dystopia, but it isn’t the entire focus of the story. There is an interesting plot unfolding underneath everything, and I’m eager to see where Felix takes this story. (Specifically with Odin.)
